The Benefits of African Mango
Last Updated: 05/30/2016

African mango, or Irvingia gabonensis, is a tree found in West and Central Africa also known by the natives as the wild mango or bush mango, and while the flesh of the fruit has nutritional value, it is the pit, or the dikanut, that has been extensively studied for its medicinal properties.

Irvingia is high in fat, similar to other nuts and seeds, and contain an extraordinary 14% fibre content, and has been prized for its healing properties.

African Mango Pure for your immune system and overall health:

As with mangoes in general, the African Mango is a natural source of Viatmin C, an essential vitamin that boosts the immune system. It is a nutrient-rich fruit, and contains over 20 different vitamins, minerals, fibre and phytonutrients to help support optimal functioning of processes throughout the body.

A study of the Global Institute for Bioexploration, states that the oil contained in the fruit's seed is abundant in beta-carotene and Vitamin A. The National Institute of Health explains that beta-carotene is effective at preventing certain cancers, high blood pressure, infertility, heartburn and some emotional and mental disorders; and that Vitamin A promotes sharp vision, and folate, and helps support a healthy heart. The African mango seed is also rich in calcium, iron and B vitamins, like B6, as well as healthy fatty acids, such as myristic, lauric, palmitic, stearic and oleic acids. These fatty acids are important for brain health, general body function and muscular development and cognitive development.

African Mango Pure for weight loss and weight management:

There are two different ways the African Mango Pure helps with weight loss and weight management. First, it suppresses the appetite thereby allowing to consume fewer calories, and naturally lose weight. Researchers believe Irvingia gabonensis, or African mango, helps you lose weight with its connection to your leptin level. Leptin is known as the ‘satiety hormone’, and informs your brain you no longer need to eat! So, the more leptin in your blood, the less you will feel hungry.

The second way African Mango works is by encouraging the burning of fat cells in the body. The components found in the seed, encourage the body to release fat cells to be used as energy. If they are used up in the form of energy, they are effectively burned. A study, led by Judith Ngondi was published in the May 2005 edition of "Lipids in Health and Disease." Ngondi researched the effects that dikanut extract had on the weight of individuals diagnosed with obesity.

Please note that all supplements should be accompanied by a healthy lifestyle, and results will vary based on persistence and length of use.

African Mango Pure for your Cholesterol:

Clinical studies also support the pit of African mango, at its purest 100% natural state, as a treatment aid for obesity and elevated levels of low-density lipoprotein, or LDL cholesterol.

The above mentioned clinical study observed significant differences for total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol between individuals using the placebo compared to individuals using African Mango. The total cholesterol decreased by 1.9% in the placebo group as opposed to 26.2% for the extract group, while LDL cholesterol levels fell by 4.8% in the placebo compared to 27.3% in the extract group.

African Mango Pure for your blood sugar levels:

The Leptin horomone, as we indicated above, is produced by your fat, or adipose cells, in order to maintain a good energy balance. If you consume too much carbohydrate such as sugars and fats, you will have too much excess glucose in blood once these sugars and carbohydrates have been metabolized. Your fat cells then produce leptin to control your appetite. African mango Pure is 100% natural, and its extract does the same thing, helping to reduce your appetite and your sugar intake. In turn, this helps in the reduction of the sugar levels in your blood.

African Mango Pure as an antioxidant

African Mango can also help in the reduction of free radicals through its natural antioxidant components. Free radicals are chemicals that oxidize and damage your body cells and accelerate the appearance of ageing. The Antioxidants in the African mango may also help fight the effects of UV sunlight, burnt foods, fried foods, solvents, tobacco smoke, air pollution and other environmental hazards.
